Hello, Everyone!

by

I am the new writer for Parenting Toddlers. I have been with 451Press for over a month writing the Parenting After Adoption blog. I also write on raising Daughters at BellaOnline.

My name is Rebecca, and I am the mother of four children at home and two children waiting for their passports and visas; my children range in age from 4 to almost 9. I have been married to my college sweetheart for almost 11 years and we live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in the United States.

Over the years I have been involved with various parenting organizations, especially when my children were very young. I helped with mother-to-mother phone support for breastfeeding, administrated a few online parenting communities for several years, I was involved in a local parent support group and served one year as the group leader for one of my local parenting groups.

I have also been around the block (and then some) with parenting my own toddlers. My oldest, Z, will be 9 years old in October. She set us up quite well with intense behaviors and needs. Her start was rough, but she is doing fabulously now. My next born, K, turned 7 years old last week. His toddlerhood was on the other end of the spectrum — very advanced. My baby, D, who will be 4 years old on Sunday, has been a textbook toddler aside from some oral motor and language difficulties. L is also 7 years old and adopted in Haiti almost two years ago. He arrived at the age of 5 but developmentally and emotionally at the level of a toddler. We are waiting for R & C, who are 6 and 5 years old and still living in Haiti.

I am excited to be writing on the topic of parenting toddlers. Parenting is something I am passionate about and hope you will enjoy the stories and information I share. Please contact me with any feedback or suggestions you may have, including topics you would like me to write about.

    What happened to Sara?

  2. Rebecca Says:

    Hi Galynda,
The 451Press administrators might know. They don’t share information with us as to why writers leave. If they writers don’t post a goodbye in our writers’ forum, we don’t know anything about their departure until their blog is put on the list for hiring new writers. If I had to make a guess, based on her last few posts, she probably got very busy with life, which is the most common reason writers depart. Since Sara hasn’t said, it’s only a guess and I really don’t know. :(

About Parenting Toddlers

Raising a toddler is one of the most rewarding experiences. We learn just how much love we have in the deepest recesses of our hearts and just how deep the well of our patience can go with only three hours of sleep. We learn to see the world from a new perspective and we delight in the very basic achievements of our children. Amid their tantrums and shouting "No!" toddlers help us to stretch our imaginations and rediscover the books we enjoyed when we were children. Rebecca will share stories of her own children as toddlers, review parenting and children's books and offer suggestions for everything from potty training to catching bugs with a straight face. She will share craft ideas, fun activities, how to form a playgroup, nutrition for toddlers, development, adding a new sibling, your toddler as the youngest child, adopting a toddler and more.
