Dancing Toddlers

by

Does your toddler dance? Alex has just recently picked it up from dancing with his Grams in Myrtle Beach. Now anytime he hears music at home he stomps his feet and bobs his head back and forth. It’s too adorable.

If you haven’t shown your toddler how to dance just yet, I highly recommend it. It’s great exercise, and great fun for both of you. The Noggin channel is great for finding musical shows, and they often put in toddler to preschooler geared music videos between their regular programming. To find out more about Noggin and a great DVD of kid’s music, visit Deanna over at TVTotWatch.

A great way to enjoy music with your little one is to do a “Freeze” dance. As the music plays, your little one dances for all they are worth. When the music stops (because sneaky mom or dad hit the stop button), their job is to freeze exactly where they are. This generally ends up with some occasional incidents of toppling over, which brings on gales of laughter from both parent and toddler.

While playing around on YouTube, I also found this little guy. He can really move!

Too cute! One of the earliest things Little Princess did was shake her little booty to music. She is SUCH a music kid that before she could even stand she would wiggle so hard to music that she would fall over.

  2. Leslie Says:

Adorable! Julia and I love to dance together. We have “dance party time” fairly often at home.

By the way, I tagged you for the Real Mom meme the other day.

  3. Lynne Says:

All 4 of my toddlers love to dance. It is a hoot! Yep, they are all todders…1 3 year old and 19 month old triplets.

    Love your blog!

Isn’t it amazing how unselfconscious children are? Some of my favorite videos of my children are the times I got them dancing or singing.

About Parenting Toddlers

Raising a toddler is one of the most rewarding experiences. We learn just how much love we have in the deepest recesses of our hearts and just how deep the well of our patience can go with only three hours of sleep. We learn to see the world from a new perspective and we delight in the very basic achievements of our children. Amid their tantrums and shouting "No!" toddlers help us to stretch our imaginations and rediscover the books we enjoyed when we were children. Rebecca will share stories of her own children as toddlers, review parenting and children's books and offer suggestions for everything from potty training to catching bugs with a straight face. She will share craft ideas, fun activities, how to form a playgroup, nutrition for toddlers, development, adding a new sibling, your toddler as the youngest child, adopting a toddler and more.
